Choosing the right paper sheeter machine is one of the most important decisions for paper mills, printing companies, and paper converting factories. Different sheeting technologies are designed for different paper grades, production speeds, and finished product requirements. Understanding how each type of paper sheeter works can help manufacturers improve productivity while reducing paper waste and operating costs.
The most common paper sheeter machines on the market are single rotary paper sheeters and double rotary paper sheeters. Although both machines convert paper rolls into sheets, their cutting principles and applications are quite different.

A Single Rotary Paper Sheeter uses a fixed bottom knife and a continuously rotating upper knife. This flying shear design allows the machine to cut paper continuously while the web is moving. Because the upper knife is always rotating, the machine is particularly suitable for high-speed production of thin paper grades such as copy paper, offset paper, coated paper, and lightweight printing paper.

For paper between 60 and 550 gsm, the single rotary paper sheeter provides an excellent balance between production efficiency and investment cost. It can also process multiple rolls simultaneously. For example, four or even six rolls of 70 gsm paper can be cut at the same time, while lightweight papers such as Bible paper can be processed with even more rolls, significantly increasing production capacity.
However, for thicker paperboard or applications requiring extremely high cutting quality, a Double Rotary Paper Sheeter may be a better choice. With both the upper and lower knives rotating synchronously, the paper is cut using a true shearing action rather than a pulling action. This produces smoother edges, better sheet squareness, and less paper dust, making it suitable for packaging board, folding box board, and high-end printing applications.

When selecting a paper sheeter machine, manufacturers should consider several factors, including paper weight, production capacity, cutting accuracy, and future expansion plans. Choosing equipment that matches actual production requirements is often more important than simply selecting the fastest machine.
For more than 20 years, CHM Machinery has specialized in the development and manufacture of Paper Sheeter Machines. The company offers CHM-1400, CHM-1700, and CHM-1900 Single Rotary Paper Sheeters, designed for stable high-speed production of various paper grades. Built with a heavy-duty machine frame, precision knife system, and reliable servo control, CHM paper sheeters provide stable performance, accurate cutting, and long service life for paper converting factories around the world.
Whether you are producing copy paper, printing paper, or industrial paper sheets, selecting the right paper sheeter machine can improve production efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and deliver consistent sheet quality for years to come.
